Inoo's fanclub booklet translation

“When I was young, how should I say this… I was a normal kid. (Laugh) There was a forest near where I lived, and I liked to do things like climb trees, or create secret bases with my friends. Around the time when I was in kindergarten, my two sisters started learning piano. At that time, I thought, ‘Why only my sisters? I’m going too.’ And with that kind of feelings, I started learning the piano when I was in 4th grade. However, at that time, I didn’t really enjoy playing the piano. I also went for many other classes, like swimming and calligraphy. I was also in my hometown’s basketball team when I was in grade 5 or 6.”

The turning point in this young Inoo’s life was when he was in the 5th grade, and he joined the agency.

“It seems that when I was in kindergarten, I once told my mum, ‘I want to join Johnny’s!’. I can’t remember that at all, though. It was because of an unpure motive. (laughs) There were good-looking guys on television eating delicious-looking food. I thought that all good looking guys were Johnnys, and I wanted to eat delicious food too.

However, I also said something like ‘They look like they’re having so much fun!’, and even up till the 3rd or 4th grade, I was still going on about wanting to join. Then, my parents, who initially said ‘No way.’, decided to let me do what I wanted to do, and sent in the application form for me. But the reply only came when I was in the 5th grade. Because 2 years had already passed since then, I had completely forgotten about it. After that, I went for the audition, and I met Yabu, who was in a grade higher than me. (laughs) We entered on the same day.”

During his elementary school days, he was only a [Jr. who was called only during concerts] . Because of this, at that time, he felt that he was only there to learn things. It was only after he got into middle school that he started being more serious about it.

“It was very fun, but at the same time, it was a sepia-colored world where if we could do it well, we could stand in front, but if we couldn’t, we would be left behind. Because of this, even though I wasn’t good at remembering the dance steps, I tried as hard as a kid like me could. It was very frustrating to see someone who was just dancing next to me awhile back, become someone who’s dancing in front of me. Such things happened a lot of times. Up till then, I had never felt as frustrated in my life. In elementary school, during sports day races I simply ran happily while smiling, and even when I became a reserve in the basketball team, I just said ‘I see~’ and was completely fine with it. The first time I ever felt frustration was when I was in middle school. Until I entered a unit, I think I was frantically fighting. But when J. J. Express was formed, my feelings turned into ‘everyone lets work hard together~’.”

Apart from being part of J. J. Express, he also has a deep impression of his past experiences in Kitty and Kitty GYM.

“Ah, there was a time when I was mixed together with Kis-My-Ft2 and had to sing while wearing roller skates. (laugh) J. J. Express was something I was motivated in, and I also always looked forward to appearing in the [Ya-Ya-yah] show. There were also instances where I managed to fulfill my childhood dream of eating delicious food. (laugh) In Kitty GYM, I was together with Hikaru. That was really fun too. That was my first time being a supporter for volleyball, and being able to work closely with Yamashita-kun let me learned a lot, and also made me very excited.”

Then, on 24th September 2007, Hey! Say! JUMP was formed.

“I was really shocked. I was the last member in JUMP to find out. I was somehow worried, and up till the official announcement at the Jr. concert at the Yokohama Arena, I was still doubting it. (laugh) I have a really deep impression of that day. When my name was announced, I felt goose pimples. With that very real feeling inside of me, and hearing the cheers of everyone, I was really moved and thought that I was able to debut thanks to everyone, and I was really about to cry. If there were fun times, there were also times where I was discouraged, but I was glad to have worked hard. Also, being able to debut wasn’t an ending, but a beginning for me, so I also had strong feelings about having to work even harder than before.”

JUMP is going all out this year with the release of their first album, [JUMP No. 1], and the 56 performances of [SUMMARY 2010]. Inoo-chan feels that this strengthens the bonds between the 10 of them.

“Particularly with [SUMMARY], our teamwork really improved. The [SUMMARY] we held the year after debuting was like that too, but within this time period of more than a month, we all worked hard through hard times, and we all became closer. We are now able to honestly express our opinions, and we have come to understand each others’ characters. I feel that we’ll be able to understand each other even more this coming summer, and I really look forward to it. Recently, when I’m singing our songs, I always think things like ‘I’m glad to be in JUMP, I’m glad it’s the 10 of us.’ All 10 of us get along well, and it really is wonderful.”

To Inoo-chan, JUMP is a very important world. However, before going to the 3rd year of high school, he decided to advance to university, thinking that he wants to change his outlook.

“I managed to debut, and I wanted to work hard in JUMP, but when I thought about it carefully, I felt that I wanted to find something that is very like myself. If I go to university, I would be able to meet all kinds of people, my perspective on things would also change, and my personal relations would become richer. Because we only live once, I wanted to know about different worlds. But it was only when I became a university student, that I fully understood this. I wasn’t enlightened enough! I didn’t think that it would be so tough~ I underestimated the course. (laugh)”

Right now, Inoo-chan is a 2nd year student in the Architecture department of his university. Suddenly he sighed, “Ah! I have to make one model, and draw five blueprints before tomorrow. When I have the time to, it is fun to do such things, but with all the [SUMMARY] rehearsals, it’s kinda tough..”

“However, this is something I decided for myself. I’m sure that if I can surpass such thoughts, things will get better and better… I chose Architecture because I thought it would be good to be able to look at things as a whole. Wouldn’t you want to live in a house you built and designed by yourself? Something like that. (laugh) And while I’m at it, I also want to do things like the concert sets. I want to be able to create something that will break the common knowledge. With everyone’s support, I want to graduate properly in 4 years!”

He says that everything in JUMP and university is fun for him right now, and even if he turned 20, nothing will change.

“I am seen as an adult by the world, but no matter what, I feel more like a student. For me, I guess I will only recognize and feel the responsibilities of being an adult after I graduate. That’s why, won’t you do another long interview with me after I graduate? (laugh) I think I’d be able to talk about more things at that time.”
